We are all in some ways jealous of the college athletes we see play out there on the gridiron. For some, it could be all the attention and adoration they receive. And for others it’s the ability to live out their childhood dreams, that many of us never could.

But what is less known is how few of these college players end up making it into the pro game. For many, a return to regular life is seamless. But sometimes tragedy can strike that can turn an entire family’s life upside down.

College football appears to exist in a sort of bubble, away from the awful situations of the real world. But these young players don’t stay protected forever.

If the Hoosiers complete their Cinderella story with a Natty in their hands in just two years, other owners and fanbases are going to have even less patience with their programs. Can this kind of success be replicated by other coaches?

Curt Cignetti is 26-2 at Indiana. The Hoosiers under him have never lost to a team that didn’t reach the national championship.
