Welcome to the third edition of the DraftCast newsletter! Tim Wood here, host of the EssentiallySports DraftCast with Tony Pauline.

With the college football National Championship behind us, it’s time to turn our attention fully to draft season. Dante Moore, who was the presumed second pick in the NFL Draft, made the shocking decision to return to Oregon for another season instead of entering the NFL Draft. Tony and I broke down the ramifications of that in our third DraftCast episode below.

The Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl will also kickoff in the next week. Shrine Bowl practices will run from the 23rd to 26th, before the Shrine Bowl caps off the week on the 27th. Then, the Senior Bowl will begin practicing on Tuesday the 27th before the game on Saturday the 31st. Tony will be present at both, so make sure you’re tuning into EssentiallySports for live news and updates throughout the week.

Tony’s NFL Draft Big Board will also be receiving its first update later this week, so keep your eye out for that. It will continue to be dynamically updated throughout the season, and you can track your favorite prospects’ movements by creating your own watchlist.

Today’s Headline

Two Quarterbacks, and two very different decisions. One had all the factors lined up to go back to any program and he would have done well regardless. But he chose to take the plunge to the pro game. Meanwhile, the other one chose a more slow and steady approach.

Being a Jets fan is almost a Sisyphean punishment. A never ending cycle of rebuilds and disappointments. After Saleh was kicked out, now Aaron Glenn is on the hot seat. But with bad losses comes good draft position, and the Jets cannot afford to miss out on this athlete from Columbus.

Not everyone gets to shine like the star QB. Every year, we see players picked in the middle rounds who change the franchise. This is where the Senior Bowl becomes vital for scouts. A game where those that were hidden underneath bad systems get a chance to shine.

Our draft big board is a big hit. As always, you’ll see Tony’s rankings and scouting reports for each prospect. And you can build a watchlist by clicking on the star at the far right of each prospect ranking.
